Start with the area to be painted, the number of coats and the coverage stated on the exact paint's technical data sheet. Color Concept in Lebanon can help you check the quantity for your project.

Calculate your painted area

For each wall, multiply its width by its height in metres. Add the wall areas and subtract doors and windows you will not paint. Calculate ceilings separately by multiplying room length by width.

Calculate the paint quantity

Litres required = area in square metres × number of coats ÷ coverage in square metres per litre per coat.

This formula applies when the stated coverage is for one coat. If the manufacturer's figure covers the complete coating system, do not multiply it by the number of coats again.

For example, 40 m² painted in two coats at an assumed coverage of 10 m²/L per coat requires 8 litres before allowing for losses. This is a calculation example, not the coverage of every product. Actual consumption depends on the surface, application method and paint.

Are kilograms the same as litres?

No. Kilograms measure mass and litres measure volume. When paint is sold by weight but its coverage is stated per litre, use the manufacturer's density to convert, or ask us to confirm the correct pack quantity. Do not assume 1 kg equals 1 litre.
